BEST WEEKEND HAPPY HOUR

10 Degrees Bar

East Village, 121 St. Marks Place

So a girlfriend and I decided to do happy hour drinks yesterday, but good happy hours on a Saturday are hard to come by. Luckily, we found 10 Degrees in the village. 2 for 1 drinks, and you know we were downing that prosecco like it was going out of style. We also had a delicious plate of fresh goat cheese and bread with a chocolate covered strawberry.. mmm! It was all delish, and the crowd was stylish, cool, and young. But it was never obnoxious or loud, despite the fact that it was packed. The music was good, and we had a nice quiet table in the corner. HIGHLY recommended.

Oo la la! I found the perfect date spot, people!

BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW!

La Silhouette in Hell’s Kitchen is a sexy, delicious, romantic and reasonably priced French-American restaurant led by the A-Team of the restaurant world. The owners worked at Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin, the chef worked at The Standard Hotel and Daniel, the pasty chef worked at Eleven Madison Park, and the restaurant’s designer is behind spots like Masa.

And it JUST opened. New new new new. Oh, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is intimate. Can you say DATE SPOT?!

Try the risotto, the NY Strip, and the La Silohouette cheesecake! mmm…

Umm.. can I just say how much I love this place? I go to the one in the village, and they are clean, professional, AND they offer free Cosmos with any manicure/pedicure service on the weekends starting at 4! I stop in here almost every weekend for a $15 mani and Cosmos with the girls. Perfect way to kick off the night, I must say.

$3 Margaritas… ALL THE TIME

“Blockheads”

Various locations throughout the city…

http://www.blockheads.com/menu.pdf

Whenever I walk into a “Blockheads,” I am smacked in the face with a wave of nostalgia. This is a bar I frequented often in my early college years. Maybe it’s the young, boisterous clientele or the great music or fun atmosphere.. not sure, but I’m pretty sure I was at any given Blockheads on any given night of the week for a while there. This place is like heavenly happy hour at any time of the day. $3 for deliciously strong margaritas and inexpensive, high-quality, HEALTHY Mexican food. And I am picky with my Mex. If you can’t tell by my site, I am a HUGE fan, not too mention a snobby foodie—who happens to be too broke to indulge in this obsession. A plate of 2 grilled tofu tacos with a hard corn shell on the outside and a soft corn tortilla on the inside stuffed with shredded lettuce,
salsa cruda, choice of filling and topped with Monterey Jack Cheese served with sour cream and choice of rice & beans or house salad on the side is just $8.95.

Hell yes, Blockheads. I’ll be back for more.

imreadytostart asked: well i just wanted to say..thanks for following :) your blog is pretty neat and living in nyc, i think your blog will definitely come in handy :)

Well I certainly hope so! Thanks for the kinds words. Really enjoy your blog as well :) cheers xoxo

Best Place to have a Sexy-Fun Night Out While Simultaneously Cheating on your Diet!

“Cafeteria”

Chelsea (119 Seventh Avenue)

Before I even begin to talk about this fabulous establishment, I will say one thing: You have not eaten macaroni and cheese until you’ve had it here. Drop what you’re doing and go get “Tasting of all Three,” ($13) as in tasting of all three macaroni and cheese selection on the menu. YES, THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT TYPES! One with cheddar and fontina, one with smoked gouda and bacon, and one with truffle oil. I know I swore off carbs, but after knocking back a few White Grape Martinis I couldn’t care less. Mmmm… this place is pure, decadent, foodie heaven disguised by a trendy, beautiful, and impossibly skinny crowd. (How is she 5’ 9” and 100 lbs if she frequents this place every day?…On second thought, I don’t want to know.)

And yet this place is devoid of pretension, despite their outstanding rep and loyal and fabulous clientele. So you can stuff your face without the judgment of the fashionista at the next table. She’s eating the Mac and Cheese spring rolls, after all. Yum…

Oh, and did I mention the prices are reasonable? I found my new permanent hang out.

ABSOLUTE BEST Place the Celebrate a Birthday

“Senorita Margarita’s Maracas NYC”

West Village (33 Greenwich Ave)

My boyfriend recently has a milestone birthday, and we all know milestone birthdays mean getting absolutely trashed on tequila and showered with attention. And there is no better place to do that than Maracas.

For the $15 birthday special, the staff will light up the entire bar with disco lights, alerting every single patron of your specialness. They will then proceed to surround you and serenade you, place a Sombrero on your head and bead necklaces around your neck, bring you a tequila shot AND a cake with sparklers on it. And, to top it all off, they take a picture of the special moment and put it in a cute little paper frame. I am obsessed.
